Book Review: How to Train Your Dragon

Barnes and Noble had fun summer reading program for kids. The challenge was  to read 8 books. For more information visit Barnes and Noble Summer Reading. I read 8 books and got to choose a free book and the one I chose is "How to Train Your Dragon" by Cressida Cowell.

The main character is a boy named Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III who lives in a Viking village on the island of Berk. He has to complete the challenge of catching and then training a dragon as part of the Initiation Test in order to become a Viking hero.

I enjoyed the book. It was funny, adventurous and full of suspense. I laughed out loud at some parts! It was a little gross at some parts. I would recommend this book for all ages. Even my aunt read it and liked it.

Ramadan Gifts

Yesterday my mom and I made treat boxes for the neighbors as Ramadan gifts. We put hand dipped chocolate cookies, dates with almonds inside them, and chocolate croissants in the boxes. It made me feel nice to do something nice for our neighbors especially when it is a special month for us.

2. Read some more Quran.
3. Donate a dollar every day.
4. Serve the dates to the ones who are fasting.
5. Fast on some days.

The Magical Gem

This is another story that I wrote. My mom helped me edit.

Once upon a time there were two girls. The eldest who was thirteen was named Yusra and the youngest whose name was Ayesha was nine. Yusra asked her little sister if she was sleepy. Ayesha said "Yes". Then both girls went to brush their teeth.  Ayesha climbed the ladder of their bunk bed and Yusra crawled under her. When both girls woke up Yusra screamed, "owww!".
"Whats wrong?" ,asked her sister.
"I hit a piece of metal on the ladder" ,said Yusra.
"Metal?" ,asked Ayesha.
"Yes, come and see. There is a small door on the side of the ladder" ,said Yusra.
"It has a lock" ,said Ayesha.
"Lets look for the key" .said Yusra and looked under the bunk bed.
She found an old box and opened it. There was a beautiful, special key inside. Yusra yelled, "I found it!". She told Ayesha to put the key in the keyhole and when Ayesha pulled on the lock, it flew open. There was a turquoise gem which shone in the sunlight in the door.
Ayesha and Yusra touched the gem and they began twirling and spinning from the ground. They landed on a bed.
Ayesha said "Ow!".
Yusra said "What?! This is a soft bed!"
"I hit the headboard!" ,said Ayesha.
"Hey did you notice that we're princesses?" .said Yusra.
They were in a castle when their mother came in the room. She was the Queen!
"Princesses, me and papa are going to introduce you to the country" ,she said.
Yusra and Ayesha gulped.
They went with the Queen into the carriage and when they arrived an announcer said "Ladies and gentlemen! let me introduce the two princesses". And they lived happily ever after.
